Save The Environment – Save A Fortune

Under the current strain of a difficult economy, people are looking to save money wherever possible. On top of this, we are urged to care for the environment yet little has been accomplished that show us the way to do both. Until now.

Honda have recently released their most economic, environmentally friendly vehicle to date. The Honda FCX has been welcomed with open arms in the US, with one of the first models going to eco-conscious actor Jamie Lee Curtis. This is a hybrid vehicle in a class all its own and just strengthens the ethos that Honda own so proudly of providing high performance vehicles at an affordable price – both to the pocket and the environment.

The interior of this four passenger car is comfortable and spacious, with much of the fabric being fashioned from sustainable plant life. This in itself produces 30% less CO2 in its making than nylon alternatives. The exterior is made to reflect the environment also with its range of earthy colours. A navigation system with voice recognition will help you get you to your destination via the shortest or most convenient route possible and it also locates the nearest hydrogen station.

So this is how it works: At a convenient re-fuelling station, you can top up your hydrogen into the tank. The V Flow fuel cell stack generates this hydrogen into electricity. This is stored, and backed up, by a lithium-ion battery and the power drive unit governs the flow of electricity to the electric drive motor which propels the vehicle. One full tank of hydrogen should last approximately 280 miles depending on your driving style.

Of course, this is a very simplified explanation but what we need to know is that this is a very economical car. It doesn’t literally cost the earth in terms of pollution due to its virtual zero emissions. It doesn’t cost us a fortune because it is retailing at very reasonable rates and it looks and performs outstandingly. What else could you ask for?
