MINI Convertible Range Marks 50th Anniversary

minijcwThe new Mini convertible is here – both in Cooper and Cooper S models. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of the world’s most iconic cars, MINI are to release four new convertibles – the Cooper Convertible, Cooper s Convertible and later on in the year the MINI One Convertible and a JCW special edition boasting 208BHP.

The latter model will get enthusiasts most excited as with that much power underneath the hood, the MINI will be taken to another level.

Although the design of the new MINI convertibles remains the same there have been a few tweaks.

The car had been criticised for its poor rear window’s not so clear visibility, but the2009 offerings have addressed this with pop up hoops as opposed to fixed hoops.

Also the roof can now open on the move when travelling at 20mph or below, not to mention the more eco friendly and economic engines that have been implemented to the new range.

The side windows are frameless and there are no B pillars that will obstruct driver vision.

Love it or loathe it, the MINI continues to innovatively evolve. Here’s to another 50 years!
