Lexus have reason to cheer following the RX450h winning the What Car? Best Green SUV Award.
Now many people will find it ironic than any SUV, or Chelsea Tractor as they are known, can be deemed as ‘green’, especially for a vehicle that can reach 0-62 miles per hour in just 7.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 124mph.
But, with staggeringly low CO2 emissions of just 148g/km, Lexus really have pulled out the engineering stops, and with impressive economy returns also of 45 miles per gallon.
Incorporating a 246bhp, 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine with a 165bhp front electric motor, the Lexus RX450h is at the forefront of hybrid engineering and it was a formality that What Car? awarded it with the Best Green SUV award.
The Lexus RX450h is also the first car in the world to incorporate Remote Touch technology, losing the touch screen that has become synonymous with SUVs and replacing it with a mouse-like controller that is used for all in-car controls.
Lexus look to be heading in the right direction in their pursuit for perfection.
