Lexus Reduces Its Carbon Footprint
A certain softness in its lines accompanies the new Lexus HS 250h due for release in 2010. According to Lexus, this is the world’s first dedicated luxury hybrid vehicle.
It claims to be the most fuel efficient vehicle in the entire Lexus range with a four cylinder engine and an exhaust heat recovery system that decreases engine warm up time, thus allowing the Lexus to reach maximum efficiency as quickly as possible.
To use long labels the Lexus has a Variable Valve Timing with intelligence in the Atkinson-cycle engine – this means that the expansion/power stroke is longer than the compression stroke so engine power is produced more rapidly from the combustion energy. Did you get all that?
A high capacity storage battery, well honed power management system and high torque electric motor give out an impressive 187 horsepower. Being super cool under the bonnet in no way impacts on the rest of the car. The Lexus interior stays cool with the innovative windows that deflect infrared rays and a very efficient air conditioning system.
Lexus have aimed futuristic design into this model from its interior instruments that are fashioned out of plant based, carbon neutral ‘ecological plastics’, which are used for their ability to emit far less carbon dioxide during their lifecycle than oil based plastics to their exterior design of simplistic, smooth appearance.
So, if you want to reduce your carbon footprint and still drive a high quality car, look no further than the latest hybrid from Lexus.
