Just after they decided to withdraw from F1 at the end of this season, BMW announced that they will bring a highly efficient sports concept car to the Frankfurt Motor Show. The EfficientDynamics Vision will be taken to the show in September along with BMW’s production versions of the ActiveHybrid7 and ActiveHybrid X6 concepts that were shown at the show previously.

A member of the BMW management board, Dr Klaus Draeger, said in his statement: ‘the BMW EfficientDrive Vision will demonstrate how efficient a sports car can be.’

None of the vital details regarding the car have been made public, so it isn’t known what the car will be made from, how it will be powered or what it might look like. The concept will definitely be lightweight and aerodynamic, much alike BMW’s GINA concept.

In his statement, Dr Draeger also said: ‘Technological innovations will be accelerated even more, in order to constantly make our vehicles more efficient.’

We can be sure that with the EfficientDynamics Vision concept, BMW will pioneer their high performance, highly efficient future.

Rumour has it that the concept will be based on the M1 Hommage (pictured).
